William Teasley
has been active in community and economic development since 1991. For several years he led research projects
that identified best practices for smart growth and economic development with
an emphasis on distressed community redevelopment. This included working with communities
experiencing industrial/manufacturing decline or disinvestment to identify strategies
to meet the future economic needs of its residents.
Mr.
Teasley is currently leading implementation assistance for Southwest Louisiana's Economic Development Strategy, and recently completed a Community Action Plan
for Decatur-Morgan County, Alabama and an update to a Gwinnett
County, Georgia's Community and Economic Development Plan. His past projects at Market Street include community consensus strategies for Little Rock, Arkansas and Caldwell County, North
Carolina and an Education and Workforce Development Action Plan for Cabarrus
and Rowan Counties, North Carolina.
Prior to joining Market
Street, Mr. Teasley was a Principal at Bridges
Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia where he provided market,
socio-economic, and workforce development research to private and public
clients. While at Bridges, Mr. Teasley
assisted the Georgia Department of Education in developing performance
standards that prepared high school students to enter the work force in business,
electronics and healthcare professions. During
the same time, he provided support to the Brownfield Institute in Anniston, Alabama by developing
job training, the College
Gateway Center,
land re-use and research projects. Before
Bridges, he was a Project Manager in International Trade Development for
Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems in Marietta, Georgia where he developed
workforce and economic development projects in Asia, with an emphasis on
advanced aerospace and environmental technologies, throughout the 1990s.
Mr. Teasley is an advocate for holistic and quality community
economic development. He has recently
been appointed to the Fulton County Citizens Commission on the Environment
which recommends policy and programs that promote sustainable and healthy
communities. He is very active in the
community as he sits on boards and is a member of several organizations.
Mr. Teasley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration with a specialization in Marketing from Boston College.
